Addis Ababa is the capital and largest city of Ethiopia.

- Culture: As the capital, Addis Ababa is the cultural heart of Ethiopia. It is home to many museums, monuments, universities, and other important cultural institutions.
Holy Trinity Cathedral Church
Holy Trinity Cathedral, bordering the Houses of Parliament, was established in 1998 (Eth Cal) ‘upon the idea of preserving and making available for visitors – domestic and foreign- religious and historical relics and promote the good image of the country’. This specialized church run museum has over 146 various religious manuscripts, icons, ceremonial items, paintings, gold, silver embroidered robes, umbrellas, crosses and books that date from the 15th.Century.
The National Museum of Ethiopia
The National Museum of Ethiopia which is located adjacent to the Faculty of Technology of the Addis Ababa University and St. Mary’s church. It was established in April (Miazzia) 1936 (Eth Cal) ‘upon the idea of preserving the nation’s movable heritage, conduct research and education and assist to pass such heritage to future generations’. This Government run museum is the oldest and one of the better organized museums in the country with a collection of over 170,000 various items including various secular/religious manuscripts, icons, ceremonial items, paintings, gold, silver embroidered robes, umbrellas, crosses and books. The National Museum is home to the famous ‘Dinknesh’ or as popularly known ‘Lucy’ i.e. the three million years old human ancestor. Lunch Time
Shero-Meda
Shero-Meda is the place where you can find the unique and beautiful traditional clothes with different designs. Here you can also observe while the weavers are weaving and selling the products in the nearby to their weaving place. The main products are the traditional shema clothes like “Gabi”, “Netela”, etc…... from cotton, which are completely in different style with other industrially made nylon clothes. The national cloth is also made in the same way. Even if weaving is the activity that can be done in every part of the country, there are people who are specialized for this activity making quality cultural clothes in many different forms. These are Dorze people, one of the southern nations and nationalities who are also known for their beehive elephant head. In Addis Ababa they are leading in supplying the cultural clothes.
Entoto-Mariam church
It is found in the highest peak of Addis Ababa with an altitude of 3200 meters, Entoto was the seat for the first palace of emperor Menelik-II, the founder of Addis Ababa where he could simply control the city and protect from enemies. Emperor Minilik was crowned in Entoto Mariam Church which also consists a Museum with the Emperor’s and his wife properties. You will admire the spectacular view of the city with its surrounding from Entoto.
Merkato
Merkato which got its name from the Italian language is the largest open air market in east Africa. Here you will be presented with noisy and confusing, but fascinating, glimpse of the vast range of goods and artifacts available from all parts of the country and you will enjoy the Ethiopian trade exchange tradition in the open air.
